Remember when laughter
dissolved like sugar in hot tea?
and we both collapsed
in a heap of heat
and passionate kisses?
Remember the way
smiles found your face
a canvas
and we constantly
swam in each others thoughts?
Remember days that lingered
as though it was jealous of the nights
we spent
tangled in each others arms?
Remember when tears
soaked my skin?
and you ran away?
Remember the way anger
buried into your forehead
and you slammed the door
to your heart?
Remember walking away
and turning your head
only to read excuses
written on the palm of your hand?
Remember stabbing me
with the words that flew
off the tip of your tongue?
Remember
now
we are forced
to be
friends?
When all I really want to do
is remember
the beginning
and forget the rest.
