Punishment
I walk under the pouring rain
Soaked in a punishment only I deserve
Water and tears splash on the ground
Pain reverberating throughout my soul
Entwining the ache until I'm consumed
My stomach's twisted in knots I've tied
No-one tries to cut them loose
It's a burden that's pulling me down and down
A little more each day, waiting to crush me
I really don't think I can get any lower
Crashes of thunder join the rain
In an interminable dance to rid me of life
Drowning in a flood of sadness
I sink deeper into the murky waters of my fate
This is a pain I'm supposed to suffer
