“Take off the blinders”
Each day brings new surroundings
For which I have not seen for soo long
Knowing that I must explore
This world which breathes for me
This cubical that I’ve placed myself in
Is no more than my mind
Just to change what I am thinking now
Is the only test of time.
New surroundings that are within arms reach
For some reason I just can’t see
For these colored glasses and walls I built
Are all that keep me inside.
Each night carries the scent of another place
And If paid attention to,
You’ll remember the way
Walk through those doors, which you put up
For they all have hinges to open and shut
But it’s walking that brings you there,
Your minds made up
You still sit and stare
Thank God the clock sings loudly at 6 am
Your awaken just in time to shower and shave,
Thinking of what you’ve done with life
And being thankful for another day,
Knowing that you’ll stop and smell the roses
That were not blooming just yesterday.
Old surroundings,
now that you remember,
They can be viewed as new,
For as long as you remember to stop
And appreciate the view.
