I came into being
blinded by your expectations
cloaked in struggling grace
fresh
wet
new
I bit the fruit
and swallowed with it the worm
that carved out my insides
and made a home of
missed chances
and disappointment
will this frailty live up to the light?
will she still taste as vibrant, succulent?
must everyone be devoured
