"Neighbor in Ny"

the sounds of New York City
always echoed across the nation
to this girl in Northern California
same latitude
different attitude
a call to come
not yet answered
and now i wonder if it is too late
or if it is just
the beginning
of a new age
that i should rush off
and just stand still
on the streets of New York
recite my poetry
or nothing at all
find like minded tourists
who feel as if this city
were like a cranky neighbor
never realizing the
rare beauty within the walls
and not knowing
exactly what to say
when her family members died
we bring our casseroles
and money
to try to ease the pain
we can not controlbut do not fully understand new york city
only stalled
that day
that week but will never be silenced
