Why Me?

Why Me? The angler next door, a man who wears feathered hooks in his hat, gave me a rainbow trout. Put it on a plate made in Japan, the one with geishas painted on, watched its rainbow pale and in its eyes a question forever unanswered: Why Me?
Filleted the fish gave tail, bones and head to the cat, which purred and had no qualms, grounded its meat, added egg and flour and made fishcakes that looked golden brown and appetizing when fried. But the question remained. Why Me?
