The EmpireChapbook of:
"Yvonne Levely"

" three wishes"

If I had three wishes, this is what they'd be,
My first wish would be for peace and harmony,
There'd be no more fighting and no more bombs,
The entire world would be so calm,

My second wish would be, to set the wild free,
To roam the land, just as God had meant it to be,
The hunting would stop and the killing would to,
They could come and go, just as they wanted to do,

My third wish is simple yet holds true,
For sickness and starvation to end also too,
So children could grow, love and be loved,
And not be pushed, pulled or shoved,

Only richness and happiness throughout the land,
May we all hold Gods hand and walk through the sand!

"dear mom"

There were so many things I never got to say,
Now what I tell you must be heard when I pray,
Mom, I've missed you so much for the past few years,
It's supposed to get easier I'm told, as I wipe away the tears,

My heart still cries out, missing you so much,
Wishing, that just once more, I could feel your touch,
Screaming out at the world, "it just isn't fair",
How could you take her? How could you dare!

You dried our tears whenever we cried,
Comforted us and kept us close by your side,
You were as gentle as a summer breeze,
You came through so much, with such ease,

So mom, I guess what I need you to hear,
Is, I love you and pray that you are near,
My thoughts are with you each and everyday,
And close to us, is where I hope you will stay,

So God, please watch over her, keep her nearby,
Because, she was so loving, and as beautiful as a butterfly.

"all that I ask"

All that I ask--is to be all that I can,
To have the strength to fight back and take a stand,
All that I ask--is to be free of the pain,
To bury the memories which still are a strain,

All that I ask--is to wake up each day,
To fell the warmth of the summers, sun rays,
All that I ask--is to love and be loved,
And to never be pushed, pulled or shoved,

All that I ask--is for the simple things in life,
To have healthy children and be a good wife,
All that I ask--is to walk along a seashore,
And to never experience that fear any more!

"tragedy in Oklahoma"

It was April 19 1995, a day that changed so many lives,
No one could imagine who, and how many would survive,
At 9:02 a.m a massive bomb was set to go off,
The explosion could be heard from every roof top,

Part of the Murrah Federal Building crashed to the ground,
A memory people will never forget, a terrifying sound,
And so the search began, people from everywhere,
Pitched in to help each other, still so unaware,

Women, children and men's lives were taken that day,
They all lost their lives in such an unspeakable way,
To see the suffering and the tears was so disheartening,
The pain of their bloodied bodies was just so sickening,

As I read books on the tragedy over there,
Tears filled my eyes, as I said a prayer,
My heart goes out to all those who have been deprived,
Of the love and happiness of ones who never survived,

Together we will all hold hands and take a stand,
From terrorist and such, to save our loved ones and our homeland,
May the pain in your hearts be eased by Gods hand,
And the Angels watch over you, all over this land!

"my greatest love"

You are my life, my love and my friend,
And I know we'll be together right till the end,
We've been through so much over the past few years,
With laughter and sorrow we've managed through our tears,

We've made some mistakes in our past as you know,
And we've learned to stop and take it slow,
We've lost so much, but gained some too,
Cause what's happened has brought me closer to you,

You've made me laugh and you've made me cry,
And there's no other man I'd rather stand by,
It must of been fate that brought us together,
And I will always love you, for now and forever!

"saying good-bye"

When you left us, it was the hardest day of my life,
It was as if someone cut through my heart with a knife,
The Lord embraced you, with a tremendous amount of love,
And told you that you were needed in the heaven's above,

Mom, there were so many things that I never got to say,
Simple things like, "I love you", and miss you to this very day,
Each day we take for granted, is so precious and rare,
When someone is taken from us there's no way to prepare,

For the pain and the heartache that lies straight ahead,
It's the time to let go of your loved one, or so it is said,
For when they pass on, they are on their way,
To a better place where they enter through, the gateway,

Right up till the end you were the one who stayed so strong,
I didn't want to believe and I cried all night long,
Dad tries to carry on each day with the pain in his eyes,
Missing you, his sits alone in his room as I hear his cries,

I will always cherish the time and memories we both shared,
The little things you did, showed us, just how much you cared,
So Lord, please watch over her, as she is very special to me,
Because, she is the greatest, most loving mother you see!

"that fateful night"
(the titanic disaster)

On April 10 1912, the luxurious Titanic set sail,
While 2,228 passengers stood waving, around the rail,
Captain Smith stood at the wheel, along side him his first mate,
While thousands of people settled in, not knowing their fate,

Silently the Titanic moved ahead with no despair,
While some passengers slept and others danced, so unaware,
In the mist of the shadows an iceberg was visible,
Missing it while so close was definitely impossible,

The impact was hardly noticeable but was extremely damaging,
The amount of water flowing in was utterly discouraging,
Sheer terror and panic echoed under the moonlight,
People fighting to survive was a devastating sight,

Raging water continued to fill the Titanic from everywhere,
Terrified people confused just ran here and there,
An older couple lay in their cabin holding onto one another,
Knowing their fate was never to see any other,

Passengers were loaded into life boats and lowered down below,
Praying they'd see their loved ones again, they just didn't know,
On April 15, only 705 passengers were found that day,
So many of them still in shock, and just sat in dismay,

74 years after that tragic night the Titanic was found,
When divers saw it up close, no one made a single sound,
Chandelier and other things were found in tact, despite,
The destruction which became of the Titanic, that night,

Placed on the stern, in memory, a plaque was laid to rest,
Below the darkness of the ocean was the end of their quest,
April 14 1912, will always be remembered with a tear,
For though they are not with us, they will always be near!

"family ties"

The love of a family is so very strong,
That love is what makes, a family bond,
There's nothing like a sister or a brother,
And I could never imagine having, any other,

Family ties are important, don't you see,
Cause without each other, what would we be,
We've had some good times and bad,
But the worst was loosing both mom and dad,

When we lost mom, a part of me died,
And for the longest time, all I did was cry,
But I realized on day we'll all be together again,
Then we will all hold hands and take a stand,

I hold my family close to my heart,
Because one day, we will have to part,
When that day comes, mom and dad will be there,
Because of all the love we once shared,

Family ties is a love that binds us together,
That love we will ways have for now and forever,
So to my brothers and sisters, I love you so much,
Cause my heart is full of the love you all have touched.
