The EmpireChapbook of:
"T'onna Nekell Banks"

"Forget"

I'm amazed by the different seasons,
Not excuses or reasons.
As I sit here
Thinking about what you did, my dear
The sun's light begins to fade
As the clouds act as a shade.
I wish this day would hurry to its end,
So I can forget about what you did my friend.
I feel the need to trust in someone,
So I chant unto the sun
As I gaze at this beautiful sunset...sun set
I wish you and I never met.
The pain and struggles of today
Will never simply fade away
Like the sun does when it's time for the moon to shine
A new day won't heal this broken heart of mine.
The sun has gone now; the sun has set.
Yet I still can't forget.
Love, courage, friend, protection,
Care, smile, light, and affection
These are the things you should give, do, and be.
But it's not so because you're constantly hurting me.
And the ironic thing is I can't hate you or hold a grudge.
Actions aren't things by which you should judge.
I need to get love from somewhere...
From a source that will always be there.
So I whisper to the moon
Since it's not leaving any time soon.
Moon glow...moon glow
I wish your love for me would show.
Dreams of fears
Days of tears
Nights of crying
Years of trying
Not giving my all
Because no one's there to help if I shall fall.
Dawn has arrived again; the sun shines now.
I don't understand how
You expect me to forget and forgive
After you've disrupted the simple life I used to live.
I'm amazed by the way birds can fly.
Soaring through the sky
Whenever they feel threatened by someone or something
They leave and there's so much freedom wings can bring.
So birdies fly...birdies fly.
I wish I could fly so high.

"Our Love and Their Opinions"

It seems like everyone wants my love for you to quell,
But I shall never kiss and tell.
They think they're so omniscient, but they don't know for sure.
They don't know if I'm prevaricating or if I'm really pure.
It's my prerogative to love who I choose,
And your love is something I definitely don't want to lose.
When I talk about my love for you, they use a scathing tone,
But I'm so tired of being alone.
My temerity is incomprehensible.
I wonder if my heart is mendable.
Strangers act so solicitous about my encumbrance,
But they never give me a chance
To explain it all.
I just wanted to fall
Deep in love and be loved in return.
They don't understand that I have to live and learn.
They think I'm so rampant, but that's a false belief.
I'm only trying to lose the pain and grief.
Maudlin friends seem so fake.
They think everything I do is a mistake.
Well, everything is nebulous to those
Who don't understand the one I chose.
Sometimes life is such an encumbrance.
I wish everyone would give it a chance.
I could refute them all,
But I think they want to see me fall.

"Conditions of States"

Now come
virgins and
all lovers.
The night
now contains
venereal anathemas.
Avarice lurks.
Tacit notions
nip conspirators.
Vindictive appetites
applaud learning
that night
never ceases.
Voluptuous and
Aberrant liaisons
tackle nubile
novices. Conditions
vouch all
abashing looseness.
The numerous
noxious calamities
visit all
and leave
tenable nonentity.

"Set My Clock"

Staring straight strangely striving so silently, so sightless seeing signs, struggles, so sadly shortened songs.
Ebony eyes experience eccentric episodes erupting everywhere.
Time ticks traveling the tunnels; temptations that tacitly tantalize tongues...
May make mothers multiply; many magnanimous movements make
Youth yearn, yawn, yield.
Copycats create controversy.
Looks like licentious liaisons limit life like limitations limit lonely lovers.
Open oneself only; opportunities overshadowed.
Critical conversations cease creating crises.
Keepsakes kindle kleptomania; kismet kills knowledge.

"Give In To Sin"

Many days I ponder inside my head
How will my life affect me once I am dead?
I reiterate the same questions to me.
What would I like to be?
Where in the world am I going to?
Should I give in to you?
Should I give in
To this unforgivable sin?
You get me so nonplused at times.
I have a proclivity for love crimes.
Got quixotic thoughts on our minds.
While in the room, close the blinds.
Living about with surreptious ways.
Gonna get caught one of these days.
Try to drop another hint.
This thing wasn't heaven-sent.
I say to me day after day.
Girl get on your knees and pray!
You see how things are,
Experiences near and far.
I've considered giving in...
Giving in to Satan and sin,
But I know with everything
Sin will never bring
The rhapsody I've been searching for.
I can't and won't ignore.
I must not do the unclean.
I must and shall always be pristine.
I need someone for solace to replete
My life with love so I'll be complete.
The world is such a truculent place.
When I leave there won't be a trace
Of love, happiness, or joy.
For sin is here to destroy
And tantalize us until we have to give in.
We couldn't resist the sin.
They may find out soon enough.
They may try to be strong and tough.
I will try not to cause trouble.
Somehow someone bursts our bubble.
I'll stay undercover, meanwhile
Their tempers get so volatile.
It's the end
Of this thing my friend.
Parting will be such bittersweet sorrow.
There may never be a tomorrow.
We'll both be harangued until our ears bleed,
Especially because of a planted seed.
Don't even want to start a life of onerous sin.
I'll just pray that I won't give in.

"Powerless"

Pristine until you came
Over me
With
Excessive force,
Remorse...
Lessly.
Every corner I
See is beyond reach.
Stars never shined so brightly for me.

"Port of Destination"

My port of destination
My dear, I am afraid I'll never reach.
Ignore the moaning in my voice ad the sadness of my speech
And listen to the message I have to give
For many will not live
And neither shall I.
No one will ever notice the tears I cry
Because of the water all around me
And my company.
My port of destination
My passengers and I shall never view.
All I ask of you
Is to remember this tragedy
And learn from what happened to me.
I was given praises in every way.
With my head filled with pride, I forgot to pray.
I was put above the power of God; that's my only confession
With His mighty wrath he taught us all a lesson.
My port of destination
Will flourish without my presence
But will leave many feeling tense.
And others filled with wonder.
Deaths cause by blunder after blunder.
Leaving me at the bottom so cold
Covered in rust, debris, and mold.
Fish swim by insulting me for disrupting their peace.
My deck is dark and lonely; life has ceased.
My port of destination will be remembered for many things.
Famous people, architecture, landmarks, and all technology brings.
But me...
Well, I'll always be
The unsinkable ship that forever lies
At the bottom of the ocean where she cries.
They gave their final farewell before coming aboard
A ship everyone felt safe on and adored.
My port of destination
Is the land I'll never see
Due to the fate of my companions and me.
Don't disturb our murky grave.
My first and only passengers were brave.
Their screams and panic I'll never forget.
As I plunged into the depths of the ocean,
It was death we met.

"You Know It's True"

From the moment the sun rises
There are no surprises
I'm in love with you.
You know it's true.
When the moon is glowing.
Everyone is knowing.
I'm in love with you.
You know it's true.
When the stars fall from the sky,
I will still have this look in my eye
The look that says I want you.
You and everyone else know it's true.
And when the world is gone
And all the souls have moved on,
My love for you will still be here
So have no fear.
When the sun stops shining bright,
I will love you with all my might.
I'm in love with you.
You know it's true.
And when He says the end is near,
I'll hold you close to erase the fear.
I'm in love with you.
You know it's true.
And when the birds begin to sing,
I'll still keep doing everything
To keep you satisfied.
I'll always stay by your side.
You can depend on me.
I just want to be
Wherever you are.
I don't want you t get too far
Because I'm in love with you,
And you know it's true.

"Tomorrow Defined"

Tomorrow:
Isn't simply the day after the present.
It's a day of extreme temerity and misunderstandings.
Committing to things never dreamed or imagined.
Living life and enjoying salacious things.
Feeding incessant desires
That have been hid inside a coveting mind.
Tomorrow:
Day of obsequious prey to be misused
By licentious predators.
The end of a scrupulous young vixen
Who's running rampantly and saliently
In the virulent streets of the world.
The jaded being is finally flowing freely
Floating on air like a duck's feather.
Tomorrow:
Rudimentary problems, which should've
Been solved years ago, come out and speak
To the solicitous ones.
Innocence and trust are gone from here.
The sonorous voice is heard, then unheard.
Tomorrow:
Long journey closes like the corner store.
Scathing spoken sentences silence themselves.
Reasons aren't tenable.
Instead, they're nebulous.
Sagacity comes from no one.
Tomorrow:
Never dies, but sometimes expires for a while.
Don't worry 'cause it'll visit you soon.
Bellicose actions surprise us all,
Including the being committing.
No magnanimous heart willing to love and understand.
Sheltered and forbidden from a perfect love.
Urges for tomorrow come again.
In retrospect, tomorrow should still be today.

"Oh the Blackness"

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his veins to mine
as we share love
our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his mind
as he puts knowledge into mine
and our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his eyes
as he gazes into mine
our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his lips
as they speak truth into mine
and our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his hands
as he holds mine
our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his feet
as they lead the way for mine
and our black hearts entwine.

Oh the blackness
the blackness
flows from his body to mine
as we become one
our black hearts entwine.
