The EmpireChapbook of:
"Norman Wm. Muise"

"Flames"

Popping, crackling,
a cozy fire for two.
The flickering flames,
charging the internal blaze.

Dancing shadows tease,
playing soft with heated skin.
Eyes reflect the love,
for beauty captured in flame.

No words to be said,
the heat must find it's release.
Become the fuel,
stoking the waning flame.

"Carried by a Rainbow"

A rainbow appeared
in the mist over the falls
hints of love you say
all I see is black and white
no color just shades of gray.

Surreal vision
painted with broad strokes
I still do not see
the vibrant colors you do
woven with the tint of love

Shimmering colors
in the mist over the falls
I will never see
love carried by a rainbow
no color but shades of gray

"City of Angels"

Sitting neath star light
or is it neon glow
the cities moonbeams -
Who cares in Los Angeles
if one more Angel gets lost?

"Moon Beams"

Moon beams, kissing water,
caressing, as a lover.
Moving slowly, tenderly,
trying to become as one.

Water, becoming a wave,
rising up to her love,
falling back in ecstasy
satisfied and glistening.

Once again the ritual,
the giving of the soul.
Again and again,
as it all began.

Now they are both still,
blocked by a cloud.
They sleep and wait,
knowing it won't last.

"Golden leaves of fall"

Golden leaves of fall
push the limits of beauty
a living canvas -
colors blend and flow
Mona Lisa in fauna

Beauty not defined
branches and leaves internee
a kaleidoscope -
sunlight dances with color
the Lady still does smile

An embrace of art
painted with Autumns' breath
movement in fauna -
shifting to a new image
Mona has taken her leave

Framed in branches
push the limits of beauty
spill and return -
colors blend and flow
Mona Lisa in fauna

"Daddies Little Gir"l

I remember laughing eyes
how your smile
touched your eyes.
Now I watch as your
spirit dies,
because he crossed the line.

I would if I could,
but I can't take your pain,
of when you were
Daddies
little
girl.

"Defeat"

Once again pain of defeat
a burning of the soul;
the path littered
with broken glass -
the soul bleeds.
Defeat in pain
pain in defeat;
Who then understands
Defeat..........................
Without further adieu
I end it here, I end it now
as I soak defeat in a tub of water with epson salts

"God?"

A single spike
driven into the wall
supported the gold lettered plaque;
God Bless this mess.

Either God's illiterate or
He doesn't exist.

A ten pound crucifix
(held in innocent hands)
could not stop the demon
with the sour breath.

Blame it on the whiskey,
         blame it on the booze,
blame it on the childhood lived years ago;

But where was the love of God in all of this?

"Desert"

Wild roses spilling
blends into the hillside
a feast for the eyes!
strawberry jelly mixes
crowning mint julep ice-cream.

"I love Thee"

Butterfly wings
inside my chest
beating a song -
I love, I love, I love thee.

The flower game
in our youth
petals pulled -
I love, I love, I love thee.

Never once
did we chant
I love you not, always -
I love, I love, I love thee.

The flower game
played once more
a flower from the wreath -
I love, I love, I will always love Thee.
