In some far off place
In the back of my mind
I recall that I once knew you
A clouded distant memory
Of good times we shared together
And then, in the blink of an eye
It ended as quickly as it began
Although I really cannot remember why
The reason seems to escape me
I know we were good once
Yet, now it seems so vague and cold
But I will always keep you here
In my memories of days gone by
In the clouds of my mind
And the canyons of my heart

"A Thanksgiving Prayer"

Today as I stop to think about
All I should be thankful for
I note at that very top of the list
Are some people I adore

My son and husband and Mother
All my brothers and sisters too
All my nieces and my cousins
And all 3 of my darling nephews

But this year I must give extra thanks
To our Lord and Jesus too
For this year they sent someone special
And that special thing is YOU!!


"Relatively Speaking"

As a child growing up I hadn't a care
No reason to worry, I knew you were there
To love and to guide me through life's ups and downs
To wash away tears, help me smile when I frowned
But as I grew older things were different somehow
It's hard to explain all I feel for you now
They say the one thing in our lives we can't change
Are the parents and family that gave us our name
If given the chance to go back to the start
And make my own choices I know in my heart
Without hesitation I'd tell them quite clearly
I want the same people that loved me so dearly
Yet, gave me the room that I needed to grow
There's no doubt in my mind and I want you to know
If they said I could choose a new Mom and a Dad
I would tell them, I'm happy with the ones that I have

Just how things would be
If I could be you

If just for one minute
One hour, one day
I worked where you worked
You played where I played
If we both took a look at life
through other eyes
Do you think that then
We might realize
That we mustn't judge others
Or assume that we know
What it is that would make them
Behave and act so
