"The Second Time Around"

I used to believe love only lasted one time.
I forgot you were love and you could last forever.
Sitting here staring into your eyes I see our
yesterday's reflection looking back at me.
The day we said hello was the day I stopped playing
solitaire with my heart.
Without warning you became my everything.
I thought our trust and loyalty would build a foundation
no one could destroy.
I was wrong.
The break up was quick and harsh but not desired.
I vowed never to love again.
As the months passed so did my hurt but not the emptiness.
I realized your absence made me love you more.
At first I thought our goodbye to be a kiss of death.
Now I see it as fate.
I began to yearn for you.
I had a vacant heart only you could fill.
It was there out in the crowded streets when my soul screamed out to yours.
I knew by how you looked at me that this was forever.
I knew love would be sweeter
the second time around.

"Vanity to Age"

I once gazed at my vanity
with thoughts of beauty.
I knew what I was and how
others viewed me.
To all women I was the birth of jealousy.
To all men I was a creature on display.
My eyes were a deep coal,
mesmerizing with one look.
My hair was a bed of flowers in the spring,
and the colors of fall in Autumn.
My body was slender to the sight,
yet curvy to the touch.
I was perfect.
Now my walls are bare,
for no mirrors do I keep.
Paintings and pictures are locked away.
With a moment gone too long
my life is deceased,
for my reflection holds no beauty.
Only the hands of age.
When strangers look upon me
they do not see who I used to be,
only my curse of age.

"Portrait of You"

Unto this night of passion
and pursuit
do I pledge my love to you.
In the serene
forest I searched
for you.
Not knowing you name I
dreamt of
your face.
As the pixy dust
scattered amongst the
woods I danced
with enchantment
at the thought of you.
A honeyed aroma
of fairy wings
and naiad manes
circled my body.
Painting a portrait of you.
Out of the fog
of nymphs breath
came your beautiful face.
Eyes so blue you
looked into the sky,
and lips so red you
were tasting cherry's
from a tree.
Gazing into my dreamer's face
I knew I had awaken.

"Waiting"

I waited for you.
Down the cobble path
across the singing river
I waited...
The cold stones were
set in place
knowing my arrival.
Your words of promise
imbedded in my soul.
The remembrance
of your touch played
in my heart,
I waited...
Now I am old not as fair
and out of life.
The years have passed
but I still remain
waiting...

"Anna"

A middle age woman sits
at the gathering table.
She rests her chin
upon her folded hands.
Showing her self-righteousness.
Her hair slowly
drapes over the rim of
her glasses hiding
her hungry eyes.
A young professor instructs
the class on reaching creativity.
She stares with
intensity keeping both
eyes focused on his
rambling lips.
Others listen with interest
she listens with lust.
He comes before the
class as a mentor.
She sees him as a lover.
Poor woman her childlike charm
is no camouflage for
her indecent desires.

"Betrayal"

I felt my body collapse.
A rush of shame caked my soul.
I fell into a trance
forgetting it was you.
Memories of regret tormented
my mind.
I laid down keeping both
eyes closed.
I tried to dream of our absent love,
remembering your first touch.
I saw my happiness
drowning in
a sea of our past.
I could not save my loss.
Frightened by the
vision I awoke
desperate to find you.
A feeling of betrayal laid by my side.
Confronting my fear
you spoke
with sincerity hiding your twin.
Your words of
deceit fooled me
with the hope of your return.
I pray one day
my eyes
will see through yours.

"The Dance"

I fell in love with a woman
who danced in the zest of the night.
She came before the
moon and stars offering a gift.
The silver light from
the canvas sky
outlined her slender body.
The twinkling of the
night shined upon
her angelic face.
She was a creature from the heavens.
Flawless in beauty
and pink with perfection.
As the daylight hours
dimmed I went
to the ruins anticipating
her arrival.
She came alone
unseen and untouched.
She carried the innocence of a child,
but held the
passion of a lover.
The spirits of the sky bowed to her,
as the midnight dwellers
mauled at
her enchantment.
To feel her would be to fly
and to kiss
her is a glance into God's eyes.
I learned to admire
her from afar,
and love her through the dance.

"Envy Eyes"

As I look into your eyes of innocence
I see my past made right.
Your flawless face shows a
child of new beginnings.
My envy eyes linger in your youth,
as the thoughts of your untold bearing
blinds my spirit.
My time is used up
and my future foretold.
I know my fate,
yet your journey has only begun.

"The Beginning"

I dreamed of the beginning.
I saw blackness holding the earth.
A cry for freedom broke
through the night,
struggling to be born.
A silent light slipped into
the darkness
shining upon the sphere.
A ring of colors blossomed
from the light.
Soft shades of green
coated the ground,
while a rainbow of blues painted the sky.
Figures were being formed.
Tall trees and running rivers
paved a path for the dawn.
A fresh life was spreading her wings
covering the world.
Out of the gloom
came a paradise,
for the earth cried out to her maker
and God did answer.

"I Sit Alone"

What could I do besides
sit back and smirk?
I sit before five humans who feel
their since of
surpiortority over takes
all forms of life.
Me I sit alone.
Alone in my corner with my leg
kicking back and forth.
I hear their words of ignorance
rise above the hum
of intelligence.
I noticed a wall being built a
barrier between me
and them.
With their stares of out cast
I feel my place.
Holding true to my beliefs
I stand on the knowledge
of myself.
Piercing out the window I saw
civilization using the worth
of the day.
The roars of injustice choked
the air as they united
their destruction.
Maintaining my humble soul
I glanced at my watch
and freeze the moment in time.
With all life paused
I grabbed my bag
and walked alone into the world.
