"Memories"

As I lie alone waiting for you -
I remember the things we used to do -
Simple things like greeting the sun,
And walking in the woods when the day is done.

We used to run barefoot through the grass,
And wave to the people we happened to pass -
We'd roam the streets in the pouring rain -
We had no troubles, no sorrow, no pain.

But memories are all we have left of the past -
I cling to them tightly, hoping they'll last -
For we change so much as the years enfold -
And before we know it, we're tired and old.
