"The Little Branch Said"

I love you now, and I loved you then
The little branch said to the whispering wind
But when you're gone, I know not why
I sit alone and then I sigh
I long to be close and by your side
And not to worry, not to hide
I know the day is drawing near
That for our love we will not fear
The ones who wish us not to be
We'll shake them off, we'll make them flee
Now come, my dear, speak words so wise
Of love and happiness for the rest of our lives
