"Across the Miles"

Like a fledgling eagle
My spirit soars unhindered
As my mortal body stands motionless
Arms outstretched to the heavens

Soaring higher each day
With the aid of love, newfound yet old
And with the promise that tomorrow is yet another day
And being thus begins a new life

All the heavens and all the earth is open
For one who chooses to free his spirit
Let loose his love
And calm his troubled mind

My heart alone is in turmoil
Though ever so light
I send my spirit, my love across the miles
And know to whom it flies

I see her smile across the endless miles
And my spirit, unchained, descends to her
Caresses her and becomes one with her
And then returns to me, part her and part I

And my body motionless so long
Regains life as a smile crosses my lips
The emptiness is filled and my heart
Once again beats anew, proudly
