What's it take to be a poet
That's who I'd like to be
Writing down my thoughts in verse
Setting spirits free
Of poetry...or two
Conveying what I'd like to say
To people such as you
I try to share a talent
Using word rule as an art
To choose the proper words to say
That linger in my heart
I hope that I may one day be
A poet of some kind
If only to the friends I touch
And if only in their mind
