"The Love Is Gone"
What happens when the love is lost,
What happens when it's gone?
Why is it you can't determine why,
Till you hear it in a song?
What once was strong and once was true
Is no longer worth the struggle.
There's nothing there to fill the void
No water for the puddle.
It's not because the feelings gone
They are rearranged somehow.
The meanings of the words are muddled
No way there'll be a vow.
And love today is not the same
As when we were quite young.
The things that were important then
Don't really have to come.
We need to know the one we choose
Will love us for our heart.
And if you can't share all the strife
You'll surely have to part.
No one will ever say it's easy
To love quite late in life.
What happens when the love is lost?
She'll never be your wife.
