"Gravity And God"
I have this sudden urge
to go bungee jumping,
to climb to the clouds,
stand wobbly kneed
above the patchwork earth,
have my ankles strapped
by gorgeous men
who tell me when to jump...
let gravity and God do their thing.
I have a strange desire
to have my life
orchestrated by the wind,
the tautness of the straps,
the weight of my body
pulling the cord,
the cold sharp thrill
that comes with every
heartbeat and bounce...
I have this fantasy
of falling free
while someone else
holds the reins,
and giving myself
to whatever will be,
let gravity and God do their thing.
